Fangirl Problems.

Why hello there! Today's post is one that I imagine many many people can relate to. Fangirl problems.

I am a fangirl. Dreadfully so. I fangirl over everything: me and my friend fangirled over fangirling, for the angels sake. And being a fangirl is  so so difficult. I mean, the feelssssss.
I fangirl over books mainly, and Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. But books.
Recently, I have been reading The Infernal Devices.  Two words- Will Herondale. Need I say anything more?
Being a fangirl has a lot of problems- here you go!

1. The fact that you are madly in love with a fictional character. That you well never meet. Because they don't exist. But you continue to be madly in love with them to the point you cannot contain your emotion anymore, and cannot refrain from screaming their name and telling everyone you see that you are in love with a fictional character. Yep, several strange looks gained from this. *sigh* Will Herondale *sigh*

2. Nobody has read the book, or heard the song, or seen the film. You are forced to fangirl alone or perhaps die from the contained fangirling. You can't fangirl but you do anyway, again gaining strange looks. Nobody understands what you're talking about, so you just seem like a demented crazy women. Which you are.

3. Imagine this: you are in public. Bored. So you take out your book, phone whatever and you read or go stalk your celebrity or something. You sit and enjoy your book, or their face, everything is all sunshine and rainbows. Until you read it. The tweet like this one:

And your everything is screaming inside, and you need to scream and cry and fangirl and you would but then no. You are in public. So you stay quiet, with your insides screaming, and you suffer.  This is all your fault *insert name of person who caused you to fangirl here*

4. Other people claiming to love the book or celebrity when they don't even know anything about it. Or worse- THEY SAW THE FILM.
*le me* Omg, you like Divergent? Who's your favourite character? Mine's Uriah.
*le peasant* Wait who's he? You probably haven't even seen it, there is no Uriah. But mine is that Four guy.
*le me* Tobias.
*le peasant* There isn't a Tobias either! Have you even seen it?
*le me* *throws book at head*


Sorry for that rather peculiar post. I shall update it later with more fangirl problems for you all to relate to.

Rune Nail Art

Why hello there! What is this? Two posts in a week? Wow. Today I have some bookish nail art for you. Yes, you have to bear with my mega gross nails. Ew.
Anyway, today's nail art is based on a book series. Yay for books! This book series is The Mortal Instruments. I was inspired by the runes that the Shadowhunters mark themselves with.

Ta-da!

On my thumb is the Iratze- the healing rune. The index finger has the Love rune, just the wrong way round😕 my middle finger has the rune for Clairvoyant Sight, allowing Shadowhunters to see through glamours. My ring finger has my favourite rune on- the fearless rune! My little finger has the rune for Gift/Talent. 

For the nails I use just three items. 

First, I used a base coat of Sally Hansen Growth Serum. I then went straight on to the colour, which is China Glaze Toungue 'N' Chic. It's currently my favourite nail polish, and the camera really doesn't do it justice; it's a gorgeous dark teal, leaning towards green with a very subtle glitter. 

Finally, I went straight onto drawing the runes, which I did with the Barry M Nail Art Pen in White. I love these pens as they are so much easier to use than normal nail art pens, and it's just like using an actual pen. I would definitely reccomend them.

General update & a bookish favourites:)

Why hello there!
First of all, I'd just like to apologise for my lack of posts recently. I will try to update more regularly now! So today's post is just a general update, and I'm adding in some favourites of the last month.

So, I don't know if anyone's noticed but it's actually March! This year is going so quickly already. Personally I'm a little sad that Winter is over, as it happens to be my favourite season. But Spring has it's advantages; my birthday, Easter, lots of rain (I really love rain for some reason!).

I recently got a new phone, which means that the pictures will probably be better now. All pictures from now on will be taken on an iPhone 5c.

I've been reading an awful lot since Christmas. I read absolutely loads anyway, but even more so. After all, all you need is books!  Anyway, because I've been reading so much, some of my favourite books have changed. My problem is I have too many favourite books and I struggle to pick just one. So here are my top books, with some referring to the series. In no particular order...

The Book Thief, Markus Zusak.

You. Will. Sob. I'm not a big cryer. I hardly cry at films, and only a few books. But this fabulous piece of literature right here reduced me to full on, shaking tears. It's just beautiful. I don't think I have ever read something so well written. The characters are so realistic, you can imagine them actually existing. I have a tendency to absolutely adore a character and that happened a lot in this. The narration just adds something truly unique and wonderful! I love it so much. Read it now. I think this could be my favourite book ever.
It is set in war-time Germany, and follows the fabulous tale of Liesel Meminger, and she was changed by the wonder that is words.

The Mortal Instruments, Cassandra Clare.

Can I be a Shadowhunter? Please? Even just a vampire? Cassandra Clare has a brilliant way of making you absolutely love a character to pieces then hate their guts within a few lines. And she's kind of the queen of plot twists. But on a more serious note, I am desperate to be a Shadowhunter. I would quite happily live in that world, fighting demons, like a pro. Set in New York, it follows the wonderful Clary Fray, who has hair that I am seriously envious of.

Geek Girl, Holly Smale.

I am literally Harriet Manners' twin. This is genuinely hilarious, and I could not get over how much like Harriet I was. Holly Smale perfectly portrayed the social awkwardness where you tend to say really strange things, that just creep people out and make you look weirder than you already are. It's beautifully witty, interesting and just a very fun read. Normally I prefer fantasy or more futuristic books, but this is very real life and relatable and I really enjoyed it. Usually this sort of book is very similar to others in the genre but this was fabulously individual!


And something I'm really enjoying at the moment that is a book in essence: Wreck This Journal. I bought it about a year ago, and have done a page every now and then. Recently, however I have been really getting into it! It's almost thereauptutic, and really fun! I'm a creative person, so this is perfect for me. If you are unfamiliar with the book, it is a journal which has instructions or more accurately, destructions to follow to interpret as you like. I would definitely invest!

Write one word over and over- I chose dreams!

Pour, spill, drop, spit, fling your coffee here-I decided to make it more interesting and write out the lyrics to Cold coffee by Ed Sheeran out!

Overrated, Underrated- Books

Why hello there! I've had a fabulous idea, if I do say so myself, for a sort of mini series. So I present to you, Overrated, Underrated! I'm going to do a few 'episodes', with the first one being books.

My Overrated book choice is The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. That probably sounds horrible, and I will agree the storyline and characters were wonderful, but I think the actual book is relatively good, but it isn't brilliant. It is unbelievably sad, and a beautiful story, but it could have been written better *prepares for onslaught of disagreement*. The idea of it is great, but the actual text is not particularly special. I much preferred Paper Towns.
Sorry not sorry.

My Underrated book choice was very hard to choose, but I eventually decided on the Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy. Compared to a lot of books it is relatively underrated. You mention Harry Potter, everyone knows it. Mention Skulduggery Pleasant, or Valkyrie Cain maybe a quarter of people know of it.
But why? It's an absolutely amazing series, full of sarcasm, humour and pure action. The characters are great, and it's a really unique series, with some many shock moments Book Nine should be called Skulduggery Pleasant: Plot Twist. It's exciting, hilarious, and has the perfect combination of tension and laughter.

Why hello there! Sorry for the long time no post. January favourites today! 

So favourite book of January...

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Wow. Just wow. It's possibly the best book I have ever read. I cried. It was so so good. I can't even describe it; it was such a beautiful piece of literature, and I'm strangely nervous for the film. I think it will be really hard to pull off, but if they do, it could be absolutely fabulous.

My favourite film of January...

Frozen

It's so good! It's funny, whilst still having a cute, meaningful story behind it. It has such a good story and great characters. I loved it!

Favourite make up item...

I jumped on the TopShop make up bandwagon with their nail polishes. I purchased Winter Frost; a holographic silvery colour with a light blue tint. It's gorgeous, and goes on beautifully.

Favourite random item...

A beautiful satchel from Accessorize. I've wanted a satchel for ageeees, and found this one for £12.50. It's really cute!

New Year's Eve Nail Art

Why hello there! Today I have a visual treat in the form of nail art.

So in light of it being New Year's Eve, I felt it necessary to paint my nails to honor that (in reality it was just another excuse to paint them).

Just to state the obvious, my nails are disgusting. They're short, untidy and this is actually a little on the messy side.

Please ignore the strange hand position;)

I thought they looked a bit like abstract fireworks. 

Base colour: CoverGirl NailSlicks in Whirlpool.

Dots: Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Prickly Pear and Blueberry

I also used two unnamed colours. 

Before I did any colour, I used. Maybelline Express Manicure Growth Serum to strengthen my nails.

I achieved this design through the use of a dotting tool. If you don't have a dotting tool, you could just use the end of a bobby pin, or a toothpick. All you have to do is add lots of dots in different colours that overlap each other.

Book Review- Allegiant by Veronica Roth

Why hello there!

So for Christmas, I received the book Allegiant by Veronica Roth. Having read the first two books, Divergent and Insurgent, I knew I would love it, and as predicted, I did. A lot.
SPOILER ALERT
Allegiant follows on from Insurgent, and starts with Evelyn Johnson and the factionless' gradually taking over the city, causing tension between the factionless and former faction members. After learning about the Allegiant, Tris agrees to join them, for the chance to leave the city and discover what is outside the fence. A group consisting of Tris, Tobias, Uriah, Cara, Christina, Caleb, Peter and Tori volunteer to go to find out the truth, and travel out of the city boundaries, and are taken to the Bureau of Genetic Welfare. There, they discover their world is not all that it seems. They also discover the Bureau's plans, and the book follows the group stopping them from destroying everything they know, before it's too late.

How to begin? It was just fabulous, all the way, and it was also very unpredictable. That is an important thing about books to me, because no one wants to accurately predict what's going to happen everytime, right? It would just get boring. But I would have never in a million years suspected that one of everyone's favourite characters would die. It's something I've never read about before.

I will admit- I cried. Why is it that authors kill of the best characters? All my favourite characters are killed. Every single time -,-

The highlights? Well, I loved the fact that Tris and Caleb got to know each other more than they did whilst they were living together in Abnegation. They discover more about each other than they would of had factions still existed, and I think that's the best subplot about Allegiant; their relationship.

My favourite character, who has been since Divergent, is Uriah. I think he is the character I would want to actually know in real life; I feel so sorry for him coping with his grief, but still managing to smile. I can't even explain why he is my favourite character, he's just fab!

Speaking of point of view, I loved the way it switched from Tris to Tobias. It let you see the story without it being limited to one person's perception of things.

The only thing I disliked? The amount of death. Can't they all just stay alive happily?

I'm so excited for the film adaption of this. Round of applause to Miss Roth!

All You Need Is Books:)

Why hello there! You seem to have stumbled across my blog. So how about an introduction?

Well I've wanted to start a blog for quite a while, which is how this came about:) It will probably end up being a variety of things; book 'reviews', fashion, beauty (primarily nails and hair) etc.

So I'll try to update regularly, but this could end up being one of those things that is abandoned after a while... I hope not:)

My first official non introduction blog post is actually going to be a book review of....you'll find out!;)
